So here's the deal. Andy Kerr, ex-Nomeansno guitarist and long time resident of Amsterdam was taking his son to school one morning when he saw that someone had left a small Fender bass amp on the street to be picked up by the garbagemen that day. Never one to shy away from divine intervention, Andy took it home, played it, didn't like the sound very much, went and sold it, took the cash and bought the smallest cheapest apartment-friendliest amp he could find.
He then had an idea to call up fellow ex-pat and Amsterdam resident, old Dog Faced Hermans' drummer Wilf Plum to ask if he wanted to do something together. They had met years ago in Britain in the 80's when NMN and DFH played together in Leeds and had become pals. "We should really get together and do something sometime " they would often say. In the late 90's they did play an acoustic set together once in town, playing mostly covers. But that was just a one off.
Andy and Wilf met up in a local whisky bar and came up with the idea of creating a duo with vocals and two guitars. Two electric guitars. No bass or drums. They couldn't think off hand if anyone else who had done that so they figured it might be fun. Making rhythm without a rhythm section. Wilf came up with a name, Two Pin Din, bought the exact same little amp as Andy had and they were off!
They met one afternoon at Wilf's flat and started immediately writing songs. And then they met once a week. Tuesday afternoon. Playing, writing and, most all, just talking, discussing the joys of Telecasters, sharing old music trivia and babble on about which records they loved the most. Every now and then they would play live and find out how tight or how loose their material was. And finally figuring their songs were "ripe" enough, they recorded the lot in Andy's bedroom in the spring and summer of 2008. In Case Of Fire Break Glass is the result.
